Production Underway For 'The Zookeeper’s Wife'
Diane Ackerman’s non-fiction book is being adapting to film and production has begun in the Czech Republic. The Zookeeper's Wife is based upon the real-life story of Antonina Żabiński and her family's struggle against the Nazi invasion of Poland.
Set during 1939, the Warsaw Zoo is taken over by a newly appointed Nazi chief zoologist and Antonina and her family begin working with the Resistance movement to help hundreds flee the Warsaw Ghetto - placing themselves at great risk of discovery by the German forces. Jessica Chastain is to play Antonina, and the film also features Daniel Brühl, Iddo Goldberg, Goran Kostic and Shira Haas.
The Zookeeper’s Wife will be in cinema sometime in 2016.
