The 262C was a wildcard in the Volvo pack, an attempt to build a luxury coupé. Certainly it was distinctive, although the lowered black-vinyl clad roof with swept-back and chunky rear pillars plonked on top of a 260 lower body gave a distinctly tank-like appearance. However, the sumptuous leather-bound interior certainly pampered any occupants. Engines were the same as the standard 260s; thus a 140bhp 2664cc V6 at first, followed by a 155bhp 2849cc V6 towards the end of production. Definitely mean and moody but not all that magnificent, although Volvo aficionados adore them.
