Michelotti’s styling took a brave leap into the Sixties, and Triumph now had a credible Rover 2000 rival with all-independent suspension in what would become known as the executive saloon class. A MkII arrived in 1969 with more of an edge to the styling, and longer bonnet and boot. Relatively few estates were built, but they make a practical and interesting classic if you can find one.
