Available as a 200bhp normally aspirated in-line-six at launch, the turbocharged version arrived shortly after in 1987, boasting a more impressive 230bhp. The car was very advanced, and offered (as an expensive optional extra) a clever set of electronically controlled dampers. All the gadgets in the world could not disguise the car’s weight however, and for this reason the Supra was more of a grand tourer.
