Something has gone horrifically wrong with crew being mutated. Every death of the player results in the on-board computer IRIS awakening another character from cryosleep and the layout of the ship changes through procedural generation, guaranteeing no life will be experience the same. Stealth is crucial to surviving The Persistence and other players can help using their Smart phone or tablet and 'hacking' in-game devices. These 'friends' also get rewarded should you die.
