A film adaptation of Stephen Karam’s four-time Tony-winning play. In the one-act Thanksgiving-set play the Blake family gathers at the run-down Manhattan apartment in Chinatown of musician Brigid Blake and her boyfriend Richard. Her traditionalist parents, Alzheimer’s-ridden grandmother and her lesbian lawyer sister all arrive for dinner and soon the parents voice their unhappiness that their daughters have left home and have abandoned their religion whilst the family deals with “ageing, illness, and a changing economy”.
