Introduced in 1948, the Sunbeam-Talbot 80 was the stylish entry level model in a range that didn’t fit easily within the Rootes Group. Effectively, Sunbeam-Talbots were touring versions of Humbers and Hillmans and ended up being phased out in favour of the standalone Sunbeam. Although it was a stylish vehicle it was powered by the 1.2-litre engine also found in the Minx, a vehicle not known for its sparkling performance. Despite that, it sold reasonably well to those looking for the style and image of the Sunbeam-Talbot 90 without the price.
