Renault recruited famed designer Robert Opron, creator of the Citroën SM, to give its range a smart new look for the 1980s. His first attempt was the Fuego, which certainly looked the part, but more convincing by a mile was the 25. Top of the range models boasted a digital dashboard with voice synthesiser, and all were considerably faster and more economical than their forerunner 20/30 models thanks to improved aerodynamics. Early models have rusted away but improved-build later models are surprisingly plentiful, if overlooked, so remain cheap.
