There was even what could be regarded as a hot hatch from 1973, two years before the Golf GTI popularised the genre. This was the TX with a 1647cc 93bhp engine, five-speed transmission and quad-headlights. A very forward-thinking and well-behaved machine with a lot of typically French quirks to make it even more intriguing.
