The NSU 1200TT proved popular with competitive drivers, and was successful in motor sport. Making the most of the basic car’s lightness, the TT version was created when the engine was expanded to 1.2-litres. The excellent handling and roadholding of the basic car was beautifully complemented with the additional power, and the NSU 1200 TT/TTS ended up becoming Germany’s answer to the Mini Cooper or Simca 1000 Rallye. Due to their high quality construction, a large number have survived in Germany, with rather less in the UK.
