In effect a big brother to the Minor, the Oxford promises more of everything but the extra bulk it carries means that none of its works quite as well. The 1500cc sidevalve engine, though ploddingly reliable, is rather gutless with just 41bhp. The column-change for the four-speed gearbox borders on bearable. A wood-framed Traveller estate version was introduced in 1952, pre-dating the similar Minor by a year. These do have collector appeal, are now very rare and should be worth significantly more than the saloon values quoted.
