Twin SU carburettors and four-speed gearbox were typically sporting fitments, while the hydraulic brakings and half-elliptic springs added driver confidence. The TB, introduced in May 1939, had more of the same: larger carburettors, 54bhp at 5200rpm, and synchromesh on the top three gears. Two-seater sports, Tickford DHC and fixed-head Airline Coupé bodies were poular alternatives.
