Too much of what follows does not. Small things and large things hinder the impact, from a misjudged, lingering "giveaway" shot of Mara and Courtney in a doorway (it's too easy to guess what they're hiding) to the film's inadvertent embrace of mental illness movie cliches.

A postscript presents a series of disturbing statistics about the number of recent war vets suffering from mental disturbances and homelessness, as well as those committing suicide (20 a day, according to the film, which was made more than a year ago).
