Despite its global success and ringing accolades, Jaguar knew that E-type sales were being held back by the limitations of a two-seater. Enter the 2+2, created by extending the wheelbase and cabin by nine inches to make room for kids in the back. There’s also a taller, more upright windscreen. And unlike some other two-plus-twos, you can actually get people with legs in there, as long as the driver isn’t tall. The car was an instant sales success, outselling the fixed-head coupé from day one. An affordable way into E-type ownership.
