Based on the XK120, the C-type actually started out being referred to as the 120C, but the quickly applied nickname has stuck. The body, crafted by Malcolm Sayer, is completely different, considerably lighter thanks to its spaceframe chassis. Chassis featured torsion bars front and rear, the steering was by rack-and-pinion, and brakes were discs. The C-type’s competition successes are legendary, with two victories at Le Mans (1951 and 1953) being the crowning glory. C-types rarely come up for sale, and attract considerable interest when they do.
