Although it was no slouch Iso decided that the standard Grifo needed a shot of additional power to get on terms with the Ferrari Daytona and Maserati Ghibli. This was duly delivered thanks to a 7-litre (427ci) engine delivering no less than 390bhp. By 1968 supercar standards this was serious stuff and pushed Iso to the head of the pack. Top speed was a claimed 170mph and 0-60mph was around six seconds – quick even by today’s standards. However, the Grifo disappeared off the new car price lists when Iso went out of business in 1974.
The ISO Grifo 7-Litre release date is to be announced on Sport.
