HEALEY AbbottClassic Car
The Westland Roadster was Healey’s first production car, and although it was capable of great things in competition it wasn’t ideal as a road car. It might have enjoyed the benefits of a stiff box section chassis, all-round coils and the Riley engine helped it to a 105mph top speed but it lacked creature comforts. The Abbott drophead coupé was introduced to put that right with sharper style, a more compliant ride and lower gearing to improve tractability. It might have been slower but it was a more accomplished all-rounder.
