DAIMLER Conquest/CenturyClassic Car
The Consort gave way to the Conquest in 1953. Well, it actually gave way to Daimler’s badge-engineered version of the Lanchester 14, which was what the Conquest actually was. The Dame was an improvement on its sister model though – thanks to a bigger engine with two extra cylinders – while its compact size gave it pleasing performance and handling. But for those who wanted a little more performance there was the Century drophead coupé, so called because of the 100bhp afforded by its alloy-head twin-carb engine.
