Following the path of the book of the same name by C.K. Williams, audiences are taken on an autobiographical journey through the lived experience of Williams. The narrative consists of several adaptations of pieces that offer glimpses of American life. From Detroit in the 40s and 50s to the 1980s, this postmodern interpretation allows audiences to follow the protagonist's internal thought process--hopping back and forth between past and present life events. The lessons of love and loss intermingle with fragments of childhood memory, bound together by the theme of how Williams prepares for a reading of "Tar" in New York City.
