So much more than a kit car, the Clan Crusader was an exercise in lightness and efficiency, while proving that the Hillman Imp’s Coventry Climax engine really was something special. It was a classic ‘70s British sports car – fibreglass body, off-the-shelf engine and gearbox, all clothed in a wedge-shaped body. It was pricey, at 40% more than an MG Midget, but the Crusader was electric to drive, and the material choice for the bodywork means the survival rate is rather good. The engine is well-supported in the tuning community, too.
The CLAN Crusader release date is to be announced on Sport.
