Alfa Romeo Arna

Viewed more as a cry for help than a serious product, the Arna came about thanks to a mis-advised joint venture wth Nissan. Essentially the Arna (also known as the Nissan Cherry Europe) was a Cherry fitted with an Alfa flat four and front suspension. Predictably it bombed, despite being better than many gave it credit for. The Arna was usefully cheaper than the 33, and still fun to drive in the right conditions, but the politicians in Rome hated it, and so the Arna proved the catalyst for Fiat and Alfa’s merger. Worth buying for curiosity value – if you can find one.
