Gwen is a woman who has lost complete control over her life. Indeed, when she first comes to in a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, she doesn't even remember what her name is. Gradually, she gains an understanding of who she is and what has happened to her. Specifically, she comes to realize that the person she loved most in the world died at the hands of an evil person. She has little left in this world to latch on to, so her great purpose becomes to track down the person who ruined her life and mete out punishment.
