The latest spy shots of the second-generation Audi R8, which is expected to launch in early 2015 as a 2016 model. It will be a sibling of the Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 and an evolution of the current R8's ultra-capable, mid-engine platform. The R8 will keep a wheelbase that is slightly longer than the Huracán's, emphasizing its capabilities as a long-distance cruiser. The next R8 will evolve the current model's design language, with a hexagonal grille and more-angular headlamps and taillamps. That angularity adds a dollop of aggressiveness, intended to outshout the competition (including the VW Group's own Porsche 911). Significantly, Audi will offer a fully electric version: The R8 e-tron is forecasted to have a range of a whopping 280 miles.
