George R.R. Martin's "The Winds Of Winter" Could Release In 2016
Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has said he intends to release his next big slice of Westeros and all its fantasy medieval drama some time ideally before season 6 of the HBO TV show.
His Spanish publisher has confirmed that 2016 is the target date for the next Song of Ice and Fire instalment. It's not completely guaranteed though as Martin has been known to push back dates but the difference is the publishers are 'confident' it's all on track for next year.
The author has already 'sworn off' scripts for the TV show because he wants to concentrate on his own writing and not be influenced by the direction Game of Thrones is going in. Already the show and the books have diverged at some key points.
Game of Thrones Season 6 begins in Q2 2016.
