HBO have officially confirmed that Westworld will be renewed for a second season.
The network announced – along with similar good news for Divorce and Insecure — Westworld would be returning for a 10-episode sophomore season, but unlike the latter two, Westworld won’t be on the air next year.
HBO programming president Casey Bloys told Entertainment Weekly that showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy would need more time to write the scripts and map it out. Bloys added that due to that extra world building it seemed unlikely that the show would return in 2017.
To mark the announcement HBO released this glitchy video which features a Dr Ford (Anthony Hopkins) voice over, and several clips which seem tailor made for fans to pour over.
If those same fans are disappointed that it won’t be back until 2018, fear not, a certain Game of Thrones is set to debut its seventh season later this year – that should tide us all over nicely…
