New Trailer for Cute Creature Feature Okja
Bong Joon-ho has dealt with giant beasts before in 2006’s The Host but not one as cute as the monster at the heart of his latest endeavour, Okja.
Get ready to melt at the sight of a super-pig as Okja follows a young woman named Mija (Seo-Hyeon Ahn) who befriends the titular giant animal. The titular beast (think pig meets hippo) was created by the powerful, multi-national corporation called Miranda (who are represented by the irrepressible Tilda Swinton) as a new source of food for the world. But when animal rights activists help to free Okja, and he bondswith Mija, the trouble really starts.
Co-staring Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Giancarlo Esposito, Lily Collins and Steven Yeun, Okja is premiering at the Cannes festival but will be available via Netflix on 28 June.
