The San Diego Comic Con has unleashed the first footage from the Justice League movie. As part of the big DC movies panel, the footage from the currently shooting superhero meet-up, is less a trailer more a check in on the promise that the movie will be a lighter, more fun affair.

And boy does it deliver on that promise.

The focus of the footage is Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) recruiting team he needs to battle an incoming, interstellar evil. We first see him recruit Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Barry Allen/The Flash (Erza Miller) in particular, though there are also shots of Ray Fisher as Victor Stone, AKA Cyborg on board. Of course, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) is already aboard and ready to do battle.

So what should we take away from the footage. Well, Affleck’s Bruce Wayne is an absolute delight again, the scene with him and The Flash is funnier, cleverer and more interesting than most of the scenes in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, there are genuine laughs to be had and Aquaman looks particularly belligerent.

We will have to wait and see if Zack Snyder delivers on the promise shown here but signs are certainly encouraging.

Justice League is scheduled to arrive on November 17 next year.
