In just a few hours after going live, Koji "IGA" Igarashi's Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, reached its $500,000 funding goal.

The game is described as an exploration-focused, side-scrolling platformer featuring RPG and crafting elements. It will be 2.5D and a spiritual successor to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Igarashi, who's been out of game development for a while now, has gone on to state that the project is perfect for his return to the industry, writing:

"Iga here. Many years have passed, but it's finally time we meet again. With your help. I hope to create a new game built on some of the classic gaming principles my works are known for. Thank you for your support -- I look forward to leading you in my army of the night!"

Bloodstained is currently sitting pretty with 19,669 backers, 31 days to go, and $1,513,146 raised so far, triple their asking price... You can expect to see it release on PC, PlayStation 4, & Xbox One in March of 2017.
