Psychonauts In The Rhombus Of Ruin Release Date Announced
The virtual reality spin-off Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin from Tim Schafer's Double Fine has been given a mid-February release for PlayStation VR.
Naturally this means the Psychonauts VR title will be coming to the PlayStation 4. This is a standalone experience purposfully made for virtual reality enthusiasts and is not a full sequel - that's Psychonauts 2 and is being developed right now following a successful Fig campaign.
"You’ll assume the role of Raz, an intrepid young psychic and now fully fledged member of the Psychonauts — an elite group of international psychic secret agents! You’ll see through Raz’s eyes in first person, using his various psychic powers to affect the world, and solve puzzles: the power of clairvoyance will allow you to see through the eyes of others and explore the environment, while other abilities such as telekinesis and pyrokinesis allow you to move things around with the power of your mind… or just set them on fire."
This new Psychonauts takes place after the original game where Raz, Lili, Sasha, Milla, and Coach Oleander are flying off to save the Grand Head of the Psychonauts. Their journey takes them to the Rhombus of Ruin which is a mysterious part of the ocean. The rescue party is captured and Raz must use his powers to save his friends and the Grand Head, Truman Zannotto.
A 2D screenshot doesn't really help convey what a virtual reality game is like to experience so a special 360 degree trailer has been released.
Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin releases on PlayStation 4 February 21st, 2017.
