A crazy future where crazy things are going on is what developer Grasshopper Manufacture and GungHo Online Entertainment are promising us with Let It Die.

It's a survival action game that's releasing free-to-play this year for PlayStation 4. It's powered by Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4 so we can expect some real visceral hack and slashing, just like the newly released trailer teases. Let It Die is a more recent name for the project as it was originally called 'Lily Bergamo'.

"Death cancels everything, except the truth," reads the official Let It Die website as a grim reaper skates by. The game world is something of a hellish nightmare with a huge sprawling tower rising up with decaying city ruins below.

The teaser doesn't show any gameplay in action but goes the cinematic route. Renowned game designer Goichi Suda has said death is a relevant concept throughout the game, where a slain player will appear in other people's games. There will be AI enemies but also dead player avatars. The big thing to note is that it's free-to-play.

Let It Die is due this year on PlayStation 4 and is unlike any other Suda game, except for the promise of being an "extreme action game" that's not afraid of the red stuff.
