Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep and Steven Spielberg Team Up for Political Drama The Post
Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep will team up with director Steven Spielberg on the Pentagon Papers drama The Post.
The film will focus on the Washington Post’s role in publishing the infamous study about the America's role in the Vietnam War, through the work of Post editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks) – Bradlee was previously played by Jason Robards in All The President’s Men - and publisher Kay Graham (Streep) – who fought the government (including the Nixon administration) for the right to report on the contents in the papers.
So, it’s incredibly topical given today’s political climate. Spielberg will be directing from a spec script by Liz Hannah which was brought by producer Amy Pascal.
The film would be the fifth time Hanks and Spielberg have worked together.
