Even though there’s nothing sexier than a wookie, the new Fifty Shades Darker trailer has overtaken The Force Awakens for most views online by a trailer in its first 24 hours

Yes, forget the giddy thrill of seeing the Han and Chewie back aboard the Millennium Falcon because what people really want is more hot and heavy action from Anastasia as she attempts to find happiness with her creepy, exacting, small-print obsessed lover Christian Grey.

Spanking the record, the video generated 39.4 million views in North America. It was supported by localized trailers in 32 markets, led by the U.K. (18.9 million), Brazil (12.4 million), France (9.8 million), Mexico (6.8 million), and Italy (6 million).

Within the first hour, the trailer received more than 2.5 million views on the Fifty Shades domestic Facebook page alone.

The film is James Foley’s long-awaited follow up to Fifty Shades of Grey, the movie that brought S&M and the awkward prose of E.L James novel to the big screen where it earned over half a billion dollars at box office - plus a bevy of Golden Raspberry Awards including Worst Picture Award, Worst Actor, Actress, Screen Combo, and Screenplay.

The new trailer sees Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (James Dornan) rekindle their relationship via the medium of staring at each other from across various rooms. Threatening to douse cold water on that burning passion is a shadowy figure from Christian’s past in the form of Kim Basinger -  plus there’s Bella Heathcote as another, completely different shadowy figure from Christian’s past who threatens to douse cold water on their burning passion.

All of this is set to the franchise’s theme song, Beyoncé’s Crazy in Love, which this time is performed by Miguel.

Fifty Shades Darker opens on February 10th 2017.
