New Line Cinema have conjured up a writer to bring the third part of the ever-expanding horror movie series, The Conjuring.

According to Deadline, writer David Leslie Johnson, who penned The Conjuring 2, is back onboard and it also looks like writer-producer-director James Wan will be back but not in the same capacity. Wan directed the first Conjuring (which still holds the record as the biggest opening weekend for a non-sequel horror pic at $41.8M). Wan also directed, co-wrote produced the second in what has become a lucrative franchise. It’s believed that Wan will just serve as producer alongside Peter Safran, through Wan’s Atomic Monster production company.

Johnson has also worked with Wan on the upcoming DCEU movie, Aquaman.

As for the third instalment, there aren’t too many details other than the movie will draw on another real-life case from paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Conjuring 3 marks the seventh film in the growing Conjuring universe following its first two incarnations plus Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, The Nun and The Crooked Man (which is currently in development).
