A hardcore action RPG set in a dark sci-fi universe has been announced. Immortal: Unchained is coming to PC and consoles blending third-person action with RPG.
It's of the 'souls' sub-genre which is from the Dark Souls series that has become a new standard bearer for challenging and rather unforgiving gameplay. Immortal: Unchained embraces this as we set out to make sense of a calamity.
"Immortal: Unchained is a fresh new take on the emerging souls genre," said Sarah Hoeksma, Marketing Director, Sold Out. "It is not for the faint-hearted and is a seriously challenging game. The story and ranged combat really sets us apart from other games out there and we’re really excited to finally be showing Toadman’s first IP to everyone at Gamescom."
We play as a character freshly 'unchained' by the warden and given our only instruction that our 'skills are needed'. As for who we are and how we came to be in this predicament - that's something we can try to discover from the game world and the people inhabiting it. Trouble is everyone has their own agenda.
This hardcore sci-fi action RPG features unique weaponry for ranged and melee combat to aid our exploration as we face against brutal enemies and trying boss encounters. It also has "tactical point-of-contact shooting to play strategically for your needs, when slowing down an enemy or disarming them may be more beneficial to gameplay than simply blasting them away." Writers from Battlefield 1 and The Witcher are behind the game.
Immortal: Unchained releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2018.
