The Crow has found its bad guy and what a guy!

Relativity Studios are in negotiations with Birdman’s Andrea Riseborough to play Top Dollar in upcoming director Corin Hardy’s revamp of James O’Barr’s graphic novel.

Boardwalk Empire’s Jack Huston is already aboard to play Eric Draven – played by the late Brandon Lee in the 1994 original – with Dowton Abbey’s Jessica Brown Findlay signed on to play girlfriend Shelly Webster.

In the story, Top Dollar (who is a man in the graphic novel and was played by Michael Wincott in Alex Proyas' original) is the gang leader who orchestrates a group of thugs terrorize the streets of Detroit. On Devil's Night (the night before Halloween), the crew breaks into Draven’s department, and rape and kill his girlfriend Shelly before knocking him out of a window. One year later, Draven rises from the grave as The Crow and seeks vengeance against those who destroyed his life.

Riseborough’s notable credits include being part of the ensemble of Mark Romanek's Never Let Me Go, staring opposite Tom Cruise in Joseph Kosinski's 2013 sci-fi film Oblivion and her appearance in the best film of last year, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).

The Crow will be adapted by Claire Wilson and is set to be released in 2016.
