Ben Affleck Won't Direct Standalone Batman Movie

Ben Affleck has announced that he will no longer be directing The Batman – however he will still write, produce, and star in the standalone DC movie.

There had been a few (bat)signals that all was not well with the movie, with no firm script in place and no release date, it now looks as though Affleck is just going to stick with being the Bat rather than directing him. He will however, co-write the script with DC’s Geoff Johns and produce the film too.

"There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions," Affleck says. "Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world."

As for Warner Bros. the studio was quick to issue a statement backing the choice. “Warner Bros. fully supports Ben Affleck’s decision and remains committed to working with him to bring a standalone Batman picture to life."It certainly won’t calm down any of the rumours about creative chaos surrounding DC’s ventures into cinema.

The question now remains, just who will direct The Batman now?
