Paul Greengrass Set to Direct Jimi Hendrix Biopic
Paul Greengrass may have found his next project. The Bourne Ultimatum director is in negotiations to helm a new Jimi Hendrix biopic for Legendary.
You may recall Andre Benjamin recently starred in unauthorised biopic Jimi: All Is by My Side, but the film was hamstrung by a lack of authentic Hendrix tunes. However, Deadline reports that Experience Hendrix, who manage the guitar legends estate, have reached an agreement with Legendary to allow the film to use Hendrix’s music.
A labour of love, Paul Greengrass was originally attached when Legendary made its first unsuccessful approach to the Hendrix estate, with Anthony Mackie reportedly the name being bandied about back then as a potential star. Scott Silver will write the script.
Whether he is involved with the project now is unconfirmed however once Greengrass is officially confirmed we should see some movement.
No official release date has been confirmed for the film as yet, with Greengrass currently working on the next instalment of the Bourne franchise.
