Spike TV Debut Stephen King's The Mist TV Series Trailer
Spike TV have unveiled the first trailer for The Mist – which is based on a story by Stephen King.
Why are we saying, ‘based on’ rather than ‘adapted’? Well, the series takes the concept of a town under siege from the things that lurk in a mysterious fog and expands upon it to tell a different story to the one from King’s novel and Frank Darabont’s 2007 movie.
The show's creator, Christian Torpe, told Entertainment Weekly Darabont's 2007 movie The Mist is an example of a good adaption of King's work. He wanted to be "respectful to the source material" with the show--but also try new things.
“The novella is 200 pages and one location, and we needed to change that to make an ongoing series. But we wanted to remain faithful to the heart of the story.”
In the book, the action focuses on a group of locals locked inside a supermarket with monsters stalking them from the outside – its only as paranoia and fear grip them that they slowly turn into monsters themselves.
The TV series will focus on several of these locked down locations. The show premieres June 22 on Spike. It stars Alyssa Sutherland, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Bill Carr, Gus Birney, and Luke Cosgrove.
