According to sources the new upcoming 3D Mario platformer Super Mario Odyssey will be out this November, narrowing down a vague Q4 2017 window.
The information was passed along to the Financial Times by people 'close' to Nintendo who say they want to have produced 18 million Nintendo Switch units by March 2018. Nothing quite sells like hotcakes for Nintendo as anything from the Zelda or Mario franchise.
Super Mario Odyssey is a free form exploration platformer set across various lands beyond the Mushroom Kingdom. Locations are also inspired by real-world equivalents such as New Donk City, based off New York City. Mario will retain many of his trademark moves to traverse the landscape but will also now throw his cap to use as a sort of spring to cross longer gaps or reach higher ledges. Nintendo will be showcasing the upcoming new Mario at E3 in June in a couple of weeks.
Super Mario Odyssey is in development for Nintendo Switch and is officially due in Q4 2017.
