Han Solo Standalone Movie Begins Filming
The Han Solo erm…solo movie has begun filming.
The next ‘A Star Wars Story’ film has taken over Pinewood studios and, ending months of speculation, casting announcements and a few jokes, The Lego Movie directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord are on set.
Director Chris Miller posted this picture to Twitter, which shows the code name ‘red cup’ (get it? because who makes red cups?) while also makes a joke about Han shooting first – which should please those who might have been worried we’d get less of the scoundrel Han Solo.
You’d need to pull the arms of someone at Disney to get any info on the movie but, what we can confirm is that Alden Ehrenreich is playing the younger Solo, with Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson as Han's mentor figure and Emilia Clarke in a role that no one is talking about yet.
The script is by Star Wars guardian and The Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan – who will bow out of the franchise with this movie – and his son, Jon.
The still-untitled Solo film will be with us on 25 May next year.
