Judge Dredd: Mega City One Producers Tease 'Exciting' Announcement

While it might not mean Dredd 2, it looks like something enticing is coming from Rebellion Productions, the company behind the recently announced Judge Dredd: Mega City One TV series.

In a tweet to fans who asked whether the series would be a sequel or a reboot, Rebellion Productions said “It’s not Dredd, but we hope you’ll be excited by the next announcement” leading to speculation ranging from the return of Karl Urban to the title role (yes please) to specific comic book stories that the TV series could be based upon (America? The Pit?)

Last week, Rebellion, who print the comic book stories from 2000AD which feature Judge Dredd, announced that they will be teaming with studio IM Global to bring a ‘big budget’ TV series to small screens. Jason and Chris Kingsley, the owners of Rebellion, said: "We're very excited to be beginning the journey to get more of Judge Dredd's Mega-City One on the television screen.

"Thanks to the legions of fans who have kept up pressure on social media, and a lot of background work and enthusiasm, we aim to make a big budget production that will satisfy both our vast comics audience and the even greater general screen-watching public."

Judge Dredd: Mega City One is in development with casting (come on, announce Karl Urban!) set to being soon.
