Warner Bros. Announce Joker and Harley Quinn Movie

I don’t know, you wait ages for one Joker movie and then two come along at once. In another unexpected move – especially considering that Wonder Woman just set the box office alight – Warner Bros. have announced a stand-alone Joker and Harley Quinn movie directed by the team behind Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Less than 24 hrs after Warner Bros announced that they were producing a stand-alone Joker origin movie from The Hangover director Todd Philips and, of all people, Martin Scorsese, they’ve now announced that Jared Leto and Margot Robbie will reprise their roles under the direction of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be a ‘criminal love story’ and ‘an insane and twisted love story... When Harry Met Sally on benzedrine.’

The currently-untitled Joker and Harley Quinn movie can be expected shortly after the currently-in-development Suicide Squad 2, and by the sounds of it, both projects are scrambling to get made while they still have their stars on contract.

The follow-up to Suicide Squad is being fast-tracked for a 2019 release date, despite not having a director – though last we heard, Jaume Collet-Sera was the frontrunner for the gig.
