Despite having not released the second volume of Guardians of the Galaxy, the greenlight has already been given to a third movie, although this one might not be helmed by James Gunn.

Speaking to Complex, Gunn opened up about whether we’re getting Guardians 3, “There will be a Guardians 3, that's for sure... I got to figure out where I want to be, what I want to spend the next three years of my life doing. You know, I'm going to make another big movie; is it the Guardians or something else? I'm just going to figure it out over the next couple of weeks.”

Losing what has been the creative force behind the incredibly popular Guardians movies would be a blow to Marvel but, here’s hoping he sticks around for a third movie.

Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Kurt Russell, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit UK cinemas on April 28, 2017 and open in US theaters on May 5, 2017.
