Metalhead Software announces the return of Super Mega Baseball with a sequel and they promise more customisation and a more 'mature vibe' about the series.

"To put it simply, Super Mega Baseball 2 will look a lot better than Super Mega Baseball 1," says studio co-founder Scott Drader. Character models are still exaggerated but more detailed and so a little more serious in appearance.

Super Mega Baseball 2 isn't gunning for some realistic simulation of baseball so any fans of the first will still recognise the game.

They have adopted Physically Based Rendering (PBR) for superior lighting and more believable material surfaces in-game. Customisation has also grown from editing team names to to logos and uniforms. Players can also have their skills, gear and animations tweaked.

While not divulging anything specific yet, the sequel will also support online play with a separate league table for custom teams.

Super Mega Baseball 2 releases on PlayStation 4 in 2017.
