Pro Skater 5 Is Going To Get Eaten Alive By Critics

Although we REALLY wanted to believe that skateboarding games and the Tony Hawk series would be back today in a triumphant way, it seems that the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 is the cash-in by Activision that it appeared to be leading up to its release.

Just checking quickly on Metacritic.com you can see the user review Metascore average for the Xbox One versions of the game at a 2.2 out of 10.0 rating based on 17 ratings in total, while the PlayStation 4 version rests at a 3.2 out of 10.0 average based on 38 ratings. Yeah, gamers aren't too happy with their purchase. Its now very obvious why Activision didn't send out codes to reviewers until release day - They sneakily tricked all of the Tony Hawk fans that wanted to believe that the game would be worthy of a day one purchase to buy it before they were told just how crummy of a move that would be for them. And now, all these fans are left heartbroken and without an extra sixty bucks in their pockets to buy one of the many worthy releases coming this fall...

Common complaints among these players who've submitted their thoughts of the game include criticizing the poor graphics, which fans of the series were no stranger to complaining about with each new trailer's release, ultimately forcing developer Robomodo to change the "art style" of the game... even if its release was just weeks away. Another common complaint is the lack of content and lasting value to the game, which goes back to the full price tag that the game should clearly not have attached to it. Last, but certainly not least, and a major problem with the game is that it's barely playable - Not even the 7.7GB day one patch could help all the glitches, lag, and bugs that plague the game. Eurogamer has already posted a video of all the bugs they've encountered in under 60 minutes of gameplay, which we've made available for you to watch below. In the end, Pro Skater 5 is an embarrassing mess that should ashame anyone who was willing to put their names on it and ship it out. To describe what you'll see in the video, imagine this skateboarding game was set in the Goat Simulator universe... No offense Goat Simulator; we love you.

In the end, we're just disappointed that the Tony Hawk franchise has taken such a downfall over time and we expect review outlets to state their own disbelief over the next few days when their reviews start pouring in. Maybe we're crazy for saying this, but we would have preferred a re-working of that skateboard peripheral from a few years ago over this thing. What makes it even worse is the "Pro Skater" name on the title; whatever this game is, it's not worthy of it. What happened to you Tony???
