There's another game set in the universe of James Cameron's Avatar that's in the works, announces the veteran film maker. It's being handled by Ubisoft.

There has already been an official game tied to the hugely successful Avatar franchise and it was released back in 2009 by Ubisoft, but it wasn't that well received. Now they're looking to go much bigger in scope thanks to Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine.

The publisher is also enlisting the talents over at their Massive Entertainment studio who most recently developed Tom Clancy's The Division.

"What impressed me about Massive were the group's passion for this project, and the power of its Snowdrop engine,” Cameron said. With the power of Snowdrop, "and the team’s passion and obsessive focus on detail, we know they’re the right group to bring the beauty and danger of Pandora to life."

Ubisoft's team's have been creating far bigger worlds since the 2009 Avatar game and Snowdrop is their big achievement in moulding these worlds. It's likely to be an open-world affair as that's what Snowdrop is used for, but it's unlikely to be massively online like The Division, but could support co-op.

The new James Cameron's Avatar game is in development with no release schedule.
