Godzilla: King of the Monsters Reveals Connection to 1954 Original
The upcoming Godzilla sequel could contain a link back to the 1954 original movie says IGN.
Director Mike Dougherty shared a photo on Twitter of the infamous Oxygen Destroyer, which was used by Dr. Serizawa to destroy Godzilla in the 1954 movie. The weapon can remove oxygen from any body of water it is placed in.
In both the 2014 Godzilla reboot and the upcoming King of the Monsters sequel, Ken Watanabe plays Dr. Serizawa. Dougherty made no explicit connection between the Oxygen Destroyer and the current Dr. Serizawa. or whether it wil be used for its original purpose in the upcoming sequel.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is currently filming, and will be released on March 22, 2019. Godzilla will go up against Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah in the sequel.
