BioWare's Mass Effect: Andromeda Novels Incoming, First Tie-In Releasing This Summer
The wait to explore the Andromeda galaxy has been extended into early 2017 but fans won't have to wait that long to sink their teeth into the lore of the new Mass Effect.
For those who enjoy a good bit of reading material with their slice of video games, movies or TV then there is some good news. More novels with the blessing of BioWare are coming to flesh out the new Mass Effect Andromeda timeline of events.
How exactly everything happened to get humanity and other council races to band together and go exploring a neighbouring galaxy is hopefully going to get some exposure before the official debut of the RPG. The first novel appears to be titled Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiative or Initiation.
"With a new game - Mass Effect: Andromeda - set for release in 2016, the launch of a new series of canonical novels is timely," blurbed publisher Titan Books. "Titan will publish four unmissable Mass Effect novels, sure to appeal to the game’s huge number of fans."
"The novels will act as prequel and sequels to the events in the games and will become part of the overarching Mass Effect saga. They will focus on key characters and answer the many questions fans have been asking."
Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiative is to release August 2016 - authored by N. K. Jemisin - with the next novel due March 2017, followed by novel 3 and 4 coming September 2017 and March 2018 respectively. It is unclear who will be writing the next two novels but the last entry will be created by Mac Walters.
Obviously they'll be holding off on the sequel novels till after the game has launched otherwise it would naturally ruin everything, but the March 2017 book is likely to be very close to the actual launch and should lead directly into events where the RPG begins.
Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in Q1 2017.
