It is time at last for another sprinkling of news relating to James Cameron's long gestating Avatar sequels. The latest tid-bit was mentioned by composer and Cameron collaborator James Horner who stated there are currently scripts for four Avatar sequels.

During at interview with Hey U Guys (which you can read here), Horner stated that Cameron has "got four sequels script-wise, and he's trying to make it into three." Now we've known for a while that Cameron had intended to make three sequels to his 2009 box office destroyer. It appears Cameron still wants to stick to this number, but he's struggling to find a way to tell the story he wants in only four movies.

It has previously been mentioned that the Avatar sequels will see us exploring the oceans and rainforests of Pandora, as well as other moons of Polyphemus (Pandora being one of Polyphemus' moons), and also the colonisation of Pandora 35 years before the events of the first film. Whether or not this is still the case remains to be seen, as scripts can change a lot especially before a movie enters pre-production.

Avatar 2 is currently set to release December 25 2017 worldwide, eight years after the original. Would you be fine with James Cameron making 5 Avatar movies? Or would that be one too many.
