Beetlejuice 2 Gets A New Writer
The ghost with the most looks set to be resurrected again. Warner Bros. have said his name three times and now Beetlejuice is back!
However, it’s been slow going for the sequel to Tim Burton’s horror comedy starring Michael Keaton as the titular spirit.
Seth Grahame-Smith had been writing a version and still intends to produce the film with partner David Katzenberg but it looks like Warner Bros. are after a fresh set of eyes to help bring the script to life. Mike Vukadinovich, who recently co-wrote Rememory and has worked on the new Runaways series from Marvel and US streaming service Hulu, has been charged with rewriting the script.
As Deadline reports, there are no deals in place for either Burton or Michael Keaton – who played the mischievous spirit conjured up and causing chaos – to return for this one, though they have both expressed interest and have been working together again on the new Dumbo for Disney.
So, it looks more likely that Beetlejuice will return…just not for a while yet.
